In people who have anemia, the body doesn’t produce enough red blood cells. It is typically caused due to iron deficiency but it can also be caused by B-12 deficiency or during pregnancy. if you have anemia, it's a good idea to get your b-12 numbers checked.
Most often than not an unhealthy diet and stress inducing lifestyle can lead up-to anemia. Once we start to eat healthy and also reduce the stress in our lives our overall health begin to improve. Include the following foods to the diet as often as possible.
Plant based foods that are rich in Iron:
Chickpeas
Black-eyed peas
Lentils
Tofu
Raw nuts, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds
Dark leafy greens (spinach, kale, collard greens, beet greens)
Dark chocolate
Fresh Anti-anemia Juice:
Ingredients:
3 handful of spinach
3 large carrots
1 medium cucumber or 4 large stalks of celery
1/2 inch ginger
1/2 medium beet root (optional)
Directions:
Run everything through a juicer and enjoy. Drink 16 oz of this juice daily for a month. I recommend using a slow juicer specially when juicing leafy greens like spinach. If you don't have a juicer, you can use a blender and make this into an anti-anemic smoothie. You can add some water, if making a smoothie.
