Sahaj Samadhi Meditation

Updated: Sep 29, 2019

If you have busy and stressful life (who doesn't) one of the best ways to minimize it is by having a personalized meditation practice. I have found Sahaj Samadhi meditation practice to be very powerful in releasing the stress and calming the mind. It is very good to see meditation being used more and more as a tool to release stress and relax the body. There are many options available these days including guided meditations and subscription based apps/tools like "HeadSpace". I personally prefer a meditation practice where I do not have to depend on any gadget or an app. That is why I like the Sahaj Samadhi meditation practice. It is effortless to do, doesn’t require any app or gadget and you can do anytime and anywhere.

My introduction to Sahaj Samadhi Meditation:

Many may not know, before my wife and I started meditating regularly, our lives were extremely stressful and chaotic to say the least, mostly due to my failing health at that time. It seemed like there was always too much to do and so little time. There was stress from health, finances, personal/family relationships, work, kids activities, media etc. Doing simple things at home had become quite challenging because of progressing MD (Muscular Dystrophy). I had developed a sleeping disorder and was unable to sleep properly. There were lots of arguments and negativity in the house. All this eventually took a big toll on my health and I was put on anti-anxiety and antidepressants by my doc.

In 2013, I decided to try meditation and played around mindfulness, focused as well as guided meditations. It definitely helped a bit in the beginning but their effect was not deep enough for me. I wanted something that was personalized for me that I could do any time and anywhere which was easy, effortless and can be done without using any gadget or training my mind.

Someone recommended trying Sahaj Samadhi Meditation. Being diligent as I am, I did my research and decided to go for it. My wife (Luna) followed me in learning Sahaj Samadhi meditation. That was 5 years ago and as they say the rest is history. Some of the results were every quick and tangible e.g. I no longer needed to be on meds and was weaned off in just a few weeks after starting meditation.

Now, for both myself and my wife, Meditation is the MOST relaxing and calming thing that we do in the whole day. Just meditating for a few minutes a day helps take away our stress that invariably comes from all directions and leaves us calm and fresh. Things that used to push our buttons don’t have the same intensity any more. It has actually become difficult to get angry and emotional these days. Earlier, Luna used to get really stressed by work, kids, cooking and many other smaller things. Now there is a certain level of calmness and serenity that is hard to miss. Our personal relationship has seen a lot of improvement as well and we have become more accepting of each other’s actions and mistakes. The house is a much more peaceful and calmer place now :). I attribute it all to a few minutes of daily Sahaj Samadhi meditation practice.

I have worked with 100’s of people as a holistic health coach. It is fascinating to see how those who have a regular meditation practice are able to overcome stressful eating habits and make healthier choices for themselves and their family members vs those who do not have a regular meditation practice.

Sahaj Samadhi meditation technique is both ancient and cutting edge at the same time. It increases the grey matter in the frontal cortex which allows more happy hormones to be produced thus giving the feeling of bliss and contentedness.

Stress is NOW the leading cause of many diseases in the world. Believe it or not if you have a job, kids, family, use media your body is under extreme stress that is continuously accumulating. It is hard to find anyone even in their 20’s not to have health issues induced by stressful conditions. Many of us know people in their early 40’s and 50’s dying for no apparent reason. It is so easy to minimize the harmful effects of stress from our system by just sitting for a few minutes in 24 hours. We all make time to cook, take shower, brush teeth, eat out etc we can surely take ew minutes to practice meditation which can create so much calmness in your system.

What is Sahaj Samadhi Meditation?

- Sahaj Samadhi means “effortless meditation”. Sahaj Samadhi Meditation helps your conscious mind to experience the silent depths of your own being.

- Sahaj means effortless. Samadhi is deep state of your being - that is a source of energy, intelligence, creativity and a source of peace and tranquility.

- The practice of Sahaj Samadhi Meditation brings these qualities of increased energy, clarity, joy, and deep inner peace into our daily experience.

How Is It Different from Mindfulness, Concentration or Guided Meditation?

- Unlike guided meditation, Sahaj Samadhi does not require accessories nor any guidance once learned.

- And, generally, it takes you much deeper as well, compared to other techniques. Its like parking the car outside versus bringing it in your own garage!

- Sahaj Samadhi is “effortless” and does not require controlling the mind like concentration meditations, nor does it require vigilant observation of thoughts and emotions like mindfulness meditation. It has been found to be easier and quicker to learn than mindfulness or concentration which require mental effort and take a longer time to master.

Easy to Learn?

Sahaj Samadhi Meditation is natural and effortless. Both mind and body relax into a state of deep and profound restfulness in which deeply rooted stresses dissolve and the experience of one’s own infinite potential for peace joy and creativity is unfolded.

Anyone can learn, and become fully proficient, in just a few hours of training. The benefits are immediate, tangible, and cumulative, and the practice itself is relaxing and enjoyable.
