As the name suggests, this smoothie is an upgraded version of the starter smoothie. It might not taste as yummy as the starter smoothie, but it is loaded with tons of nutrients. This is an ideal meal replacement or a post workout smoothie.
Ingredients: 12-14 oz water
2 stalks of celery 1 small granny smith apple Two big handfuls of dandelion greens or kale 1 large ripe banana (or 2 medium bananas) 2-3 pitted dates 1 heaping teaspoon spirulina or moringa powder
2 teaspoon soaked chia seeds (soak them for 20 mins in 2 tablespoon water) Pinch of Cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon Dr. Morse - super food blend (optional)
Instructions:
Add all the ingredients into the blender. Blend it on low for 10-15 seconds and then on high for 40-45 seconds (till everything is liquefied).
Spirulina and moringa provide high quality plant based proteins. You can use either of them or even both. Chia seeds provide omega 3s. This smoothie is great as a breakfast meal replacement or a post workout drink as it hydrates, repairs and rebuild the muscles.
Tip: It is very important to use bananas that are RIPE. The bananas that are ripe has brown spotted skin and are slightly soft to touch.
Note: Do not run the blender for too long as it will heat-up the contents of the smoothie and destroy some of the live enzymes that are a key to its nutrition and health benefits. This smoothie can easily fill a 20-24 oz jar. If planning to store, keep it in the refrigerator in a glass jar with a tight lid to avoid oxidation. This smoothie can easily last for up-to 36 hours. Play around with the recipe till you find the happy mix of greens and sweetness.
