Weight gain in Fall / Winter

Keep an eye on what you chose to eat in the Fall/winter months. In most places around the world, this is the season of festivities, weddings, vacations etc. In others words, more temptations to eat oily, rich and heavy foods.


According to many surveys, most amount of weight gain happens during the fall & winter months of the year. In these months not only we tend to eat a lot but (because of colder temperatures) we choose to stay in doors as well thus burning less calories. Because of the colder weather, even the metabolism slows down thus resulting in even more build of fat.


Diet: In order to keep the weight in check, eat ample amount of seasonally grown fruits and vegetables. In addition, eat different types of lentils / beans and whole grains to nourish the body in the form of soups and curries. Use least amount of oils, processed foods, added sugar and dairy / meat in the diet. All of the above cause body to become acidic resulting in many types of diseases.


Focus on "Whole Plant Based Foods". They are good for the weight and also heal the body from inside.


Exercise: Daily exercising the body either by going to gym, doing yoga or brisk walk will help the body burn extra calories and also lessen the pain/inflammation.


Herbal Teas for cleansing / detox:

Drinking herbal teas 2/3 times a day in the winter months help cleanse / detox the body, strengthen the immune system and also aid in weight loss as well.

Drinking ample amount of warm lemon / ginger water also helps in cleansing the body of accumulated toxins.
